Information

FasTFatum, is the alter ego of the songwriter/singer, Igor Calzada.

Igor Calzada´s (Donostia-St. Sebastian, 1975) musical projects have always had the same common background: We could say all of them have had an hybrid touch (or at least that has been the author’s main intention): A fusion between music (understood as songs) and literature (used as stories).

From this starting point, we could figure out his path step-by-step in the following way:

· 1990-1996: Vocals, lyrics and drums in the Euripean Sua (Fire behind the Rain, in Basque), a rock/folk/pop group.

· 1995-1997: Vocals in an experimental group called 5 Artzai Band (5 Shepherds Band, in Basque). Rooted in Bilbao’s university atmosphere and surroundings.

· 1997-nowadays: Definitely, one of the most important milestone for understanding the path of Igor Calzada as a songwriter, is the collaboration he started with the Basque writer Harkaitz Cano (http://zubitegia.armiarma.com/egileak/00025.htm) in 1997. 10 years have passed since then.

FasTFatum, in this sense, it’s just an spontaneous, unconcious and natural output and result of this collaboration.

In 1996, I. Calzada started to turn poem’s from H. Cano’s “Kea Behelainopean Bezala” (1994, Susa) poem’s book into songs. However, the decision for starting his path as a songwriter/singer was taken not before 1997. Specifically, the crucial fact for taking the decision of starting as a songwriter/singer, was the trip to New York City (NYC). At this stage, H. Cano was just writing down his “Piano gainean gosaltzen» (2000, Erein) book, thus they met in NYC and started thinking about future shared projects.

From then on, they created and put forward uZTAIL oPARO oSTEAN (uoo) (After a Plentiful July, in Basque), which was shown in more than a hundred venues around the Basque geography.

· From 2002 onwards, uZTAIL oPARO oSTEAN (uoo), was renamed to OSTEAN (After, in Basque)(http://www.ostean.com), with the invaluable musical collaboration of Luis Fernandez (cello player) and Oianko Txoperena (webmaster and graphic designer). Four members showed this project in more than 30 gigs, combining songs, stories and video projections.

· In this context and taking into account the previous description, Igor Calzada begins his solo path, FasTFatum, with the direct collaboration of the writer Harkaitz Cano. From the beginning FTF will count on collaborators of all kinds and backgrounds.

· The name FasTFatum could be translated as «fast fate». But the origin of the name comes from the latin «fas fatum» which means just «fate» and it’s mainly taken from Bernardo Atxaga, a Basque writer’s poem called «fas fatum» (sang as well by Ruper Ordorika, a Basque songwriter).

What is FasTFatum about?
The need to look inward; dream, journey, love, the near and far, cities, whats true, the trivial and subtle, people, the street, of you and of me… . The urgency and drive to live life as a FasTFatum. Life taken as fast fate. FasTFatum.

Informazioa

FasTFatum, Igor Calzada kantuegilearen alter egoa da.

Igor Calzada (Donostia, 1975) iraganean murgilduta ibili izan den proiektu musikalek, beti ere hibridotasun ikutu (edo gutxienez asmo) bera izan dute funtsean: Musika (kantu bezala ulertua) eta literatura (istorio bezala erabilia) uztartzearena, alegia.

Hortik abiatuta, bere ibilbide honela deskriba genezake mugarriz mugarri:

· 1990-1996: Euripean Sua talde rock/folk/pop-ean bere lehen urratsak eman zituen bateriajole, letraegile eta ahotsa izanik.

· 1995-1997: Bilboko unibertsitate garaian burututako 5 Artzai Band proiektuan kantuegilea izanik, oso modu esperimentalean izan bazen ere.

· 1997-gaurdaino: Duda barik, mugarri garrantzitsuena, bere iharduera lerroa ulertzeko, Harkaitz Cano (http://zubitegia.armiarma.com/egileak/00025.htm) idazlearekin 1997. urtetik aurrera etenik gabe darabilen elkarlana da. Gaur, 10 urte.

FasTFatum, horren emaitza zuzena besterik ez da.

1996an, Harkaitz Cano-ren “Kea Behelainopean Bezala” (1994, Susa) poesia liburuaren zenbait poema musikatzearekin hasi zen. Baina konkretuki 1997rarte Igor Calzadak ez zuen erabakiko kantuegile moduan aritzea. Hain zuzen, New York-era egin zuenean, Harkaitz Cano “Piano gainean gosaltzen” (2000, Erein) idazten ari zen bitartean, biak han biltzeko.

Handik aurrera, Harkaitz Cano eta Igor Calzada-k uZTAIL oPARO oSTEAN abian jarri zuten 1997. urtean, Euskal Herriko leku anitzetan ehundik gora emanaldi emanez ordutik.

· 2002. urtetik aurrera, uZTAIL oPARO oSTEAN, OSTEAN (http://www.ostean.com) proiektuan bilakatu zen, Luis Fernandez (txelojole) eta Oianko Txoperena (webmaster http://www.oianko.com) partaideak talderatu zirenean. Formato honekin ere, laurak, 30 emanalditik gora eskeini dituzte.

· OSTEAN proiektuarekin paralelo, Igor Calzadak FasTFatum bere bakarkako proiektuari ekiten dio honela, Harkaitz Canoren partehartze zuzena izango duelarik letra, emanaldi eta diseinuan. Bestela ere, hastapenetik FTF-ek asmo garbia du edozein modutako kolaboratzaileekin aritzeko elkarlanean.

· FasTFatum izena «patu azkarra» bezala itzuli daiteke. Baina izenaren jatorria, latinerazko «fas fatum» hutsa litzateke, besterik gabe «patu» bezala itzulirik. Izenaren jatorri zuzena hartara, Bernardo Atxaga idazlearen «fas fatum» poema da (berau Ruper Ordorikak kantu bihurtu zuena, era berean).

FasTFatum… Zeri buruz ari da?

Aurrerantza begiratzeko beharraz, ametsez, bidaiaz, maitasunaz, hemen eta hangoaz, hiriez, gu egiten gaituenaz/gu izateari eusteaz, benetakoaz, gauza sotiletaz, kaleko jendeaz, zutaz eta nitaz…bizitza hau FasTFatum bat bezala bizitzearen urgentziaz, gogoaz.

Bizitza, patu/zori /destinu azkar bezala ulertua.

Gure bizitzaz, FasTFatum.
